Review: Unbreakable (Unravelling, #2) by Elizabeth Norris

My Thoughts:

Once again, Elizabeth Norris decidedly served an ending that was supposed to be heartbreaking.

And once again, I'm sitting here feeling like the most cold-hearted creature on Earth. Well, apparently, I'm cursed like that. Because Elizabeth Norris freaking did something unforgivable during that ending to one of my favorite characters and here I am, still existing and mulling over my immunity to feelings. This is how I look after learning about that:

I honestly don't know! *crosses heart*

Now I'm done with the ending. Let's move on.

Upon finishing Unbreakable, the first thing that I thought of probably goes along the line of something like 'Hey, this is better than the first!' If I had thought Janelle was a decently likable, I'll have to admire her in Unbreakable. Did I mention that Janelle's like a kickass master? Maybe not, but it's close. In this book, she's managed to kick some ass and conjure up some real remarkably good sass despite the situation at hand. And after that ending in Unravelling, I thought she'd transform into some kinda emo queen and lose everything I've liked about her. And she'll be all

And then starts the whole wallowing in self-pity, why-is-my-life-so-horrible thing, I-hate-everybody, get-lost-I-wanna-be-alone thing and then I'll be like

Ya'll be surprised that I've encountered such idiots before Juliette

So I was pleasantly pleased and surprised that Janelle didn't turn out like that. In fact, she was strong and whenever she felt that her demeanor was wavering, she firmly tells herself that it's for the best and for everyone. She's fiercely loyal and protective of anyone that's close to her and wouldn't mind losing her life to save others. That I admire and applaud her.

Just when everything's going heavenly, the plot action-packed with twists and the characters firmly locked endearingly somewhere in my heart, the world came crashing down when Ben showed up.

Don't hate me, but the least favorite character for me is Ben. 

Just as I was trying to get over the stalkerish creepy impression Ben left on me in Unravelling, he shows up and it didn't help that he starts spouting his memories when he was younger. I supposed that was to help readers connect to Ben on how he paid an immense amount of attention to Janelle without her noticing but seriously? All I was thinking to him was

He's been stalking paying a disgusting amount of attention for Janelle for 7 years. I don't ship his owing her. NO. Just no. I can't help but feel that Janelle's the man here. She's not Wonder Woman, she's Superman and Ben's Lois Lane. Basically, damsel in distress.

Alright, Ben isn't that bad but I don't ship them as a couple. Elijah would be way better. Speaking of which, Elijah and Barclay are both my favorites.

I was extremely glad Elijah and Barclay still retained their personalities. But again, they're like those tough thugs; nothing ever seems to bother them. In Unbreakable, we get to learn more about Barclay since he's present for most part of the book and y'know what? I could practically climb over him and give him a ginormous hug. That goes to Elijah. Oh, and Elizabeth Norris? Try not to murder Elijah, I love him very much. I know you enjoy killing off your characters very much.  

As for the plot, it had just as much action and twists, if not more. It definitely helps with Barclay around.

I'm guessing there isn't a third book but I'd read it if there was, anyway. To be honest, I felt the ending was a little incomplete but of course, that's just me

It's a pretty short review, but to sum it up, I loved this book. If like thrillers and those sci-fi universe theme stories, you should read this.
